Beijing Huaxin Hospital, the First Affiliated Hospital of Tsinghua Uinversity, was established on February 1959. Previously, it was the affiliated hospital of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China. Beijing Huaxin Hospital was administrated by Ministry of Education on April 2003 and became a comprehensive hospital which integrates medical services, education, research, and preventive care under the leadership of Tsinghua University. Professor Qingyu Wu is the president of the hospital, who is a world-famous Cardiac surgeon.

Our hospital is located in Jiuxianqiao area of Chaoyang District in Beijing City which is right next to the forth ring road and Airport Expressway with convenient traffic transportation. Our hospital is 520,000 square meters with a floor space of more than 70,000 square meters. Our hospital has 770 beds. We admit over 1,000,000 outpatients and about 20,000 inpatients per year.

We have 1,468 staff among which 1,161 are medical staff. 265 staff received Master’s degrees or above and 18 staff have experience abroad. 24 physicians are titled as professor and chief physician (3 out of the 25 are PhD supervisors while 16 out of the 25 enjoy the government special allowance). Additionally, 126 physicians are granted for associate professors and associate senior doctors.

The hospital includes 3 medical centers, which are Heart Center, Urology Center, and Gastroenterology Center, 38 other clinical departments, and 2 research centers. Prof. Qingyu Wu leads the Heart Center to perform surgical treatment of congenital heart disease, coronary heart disease, and valvular heart disease, and dissecting aneurysm through innovative medical approaches. The diagnosis and treatment of complex and severe heart diseases achieved the world-leading level. Prof. Xiaomei Li leads the Pediatric Cardiology Department to develop the treatment of arrhythmia in children, which achieved the leading level in China. The Pediatric Department enjoys a high reputation in treatment of neonatal asphyxia and hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy encephalopathy.

We have world advanced medical equipments which are worth 2.64 billion RMB, e.g. Double C-arm angiography system, ECT, MRI, and CT, etc. We have 13 operating rooms with advanced laminar flow systems on the 3rd and 4th floors in the inpatient care unit. Our advanced surgical equipment meets the international standard.

Tsinghua University Medical Center is established on December 2012, integrating three affiliated hospitals which share clinical medical resources for further developments. The Head of Beijing Huaxin Hospital Prof. Qingyu Wu is the Dean of the Medical Center. In 2013, a British consultant was introduced in Tsinghua University Medical Center from University of Edinburgh, and working in the Orthopedic Department of Beijing Huaxin Hospital.

History:

1. Beijing Jiuxian Bridge Staff & Workers Hospital opened on February 1st, 1959, combining the previous Huabei Radio Electronic Equipment Factory, Beijing Electronic Tube Factory and Beijing Wired-Electronic Clinic.

2. On January 5th, 1979, the fourth Machinery Industrial Department assigned Beijing Jiuxian Bridge Staff & Workers Hospital the code name The Fourth Machinery Industrial Department 401 Staff & Workers Hospital.

3. On June 1983, the fourth Machinery Industrial Department was renamed Electronic Industrial Department while the hospital was renamed Beijing Jiuxianqiao Hospital with the code Electronic Industrial Depart 401 Hospital. In February 1984, Electronic Department renamed the hospital Electronic Industrial Department-Beijing Electronic General Hospital. However, the name of Beijing Jiuxianqiao Hospital had still been using.

4. On April 2003, Ministry of Information Technology put the hospital under Ministry of Education who assigned Tsinghua University as the administrator to the hospital. On November 2003, Tsinghua University and Beijing Health Bureau approved to name the hospital with two names: Beijing Huaxin Hospital and The First Affiliated Hospital of Tsinghua University.
